The course starts on the Friday evening of weekend 1. That evening after introductions to the other candidates and assessors, includes an assessment briefing, submitting the home paper, choosing a brief lecturette title, checking first aid tickets, personal profile, log books. Answering any questions you may have about the assessment process.
Are you ready for your assessment? Consider a refresher, skills check and pre-assessment before you commit to book. Remember your Quality Mountain Days need to be in three separate mountain areas of the British Isles. Also, those candidates with more than the minimum MTE log book requirements have a much more enjoyable and educative assessment experience.
The course fee includes accommodation and breakfast for the first weekend.
There will be a 1:4 assessor candidate ratio throughout the course and you will have the opportunity to work with at least two assessors.
The assessment expedition is over three days with two nights wild camping, this is basically the whole of 'weekend 2' which starts at 10 am on the Friday morning.
Both weekends finish by 4.30 pm latest on the Sundays. We always debrief those who live furthest away first.
